Among them, Shanghai has 8 projects on the list, including the Green House designed by László Hudec, the modern building complex of the University of Shanghai, the former Shanghai Special Municipal Government Building, and the Tao Fen Memorial Hall.

2.Modern Building Complex of the University of Shanghai
The University of Shanghai, formerly known as Shanghai Baptist College, was the first church university in Shanghai to have a Chinese president. More than 30 historical buildings are still preserved, making it the best-preserved campus historical building complex in Shanghai.
The clear water red bricks and red-tiled roofs are either immersed in the lush greenery or shine in harmony with modern buildings, becoming a beautiful landscape of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

3.Green House
The Green House was originally the residence of Wu Tongwen, the “Paint King”. It was the “final masterpiece” of László Hudec’s private residence design in Shanghai. In 1994, the entire building was announced as one of Shanghai’s excellent modern architectural protection units.
In the design of Wu Tongwen’s residence, the famous Hungarian architect László Hudec expressed the streamlined curves very smoothly, giving it a strong sense of modernity. It is a masterpiece in Hudec’s design career.

4.Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles Office Building
No. 238, West Yan’an Road, Jing’an District, is the well-known “Old Building of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles” in Shanghai’s literary and art circles. It was first built in the mid-1920s. Since 1950, it has been taken over by the Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles and has been used as its office building. In 1994, the building was announced as one of Shanghai’s second batch of excellent historical buildings.
As a masterpiece among Shanghai’s modern Western-style garden buildings, the “Old Building of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles” reflects the high level of craftsmanship at that time and possesses high artistic value.

5.Sun Ke’s Residence
Sun Ke’s Residence is one of László Hudec’s most famous works in Shanghai. This Spanish garden-style residence, built in the 1930s, was made with high-quality materials and advanced facilities. In 1989, it was announced as a cultural relic protection building in Shanghai.
In 1951, the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products moved in and used it as an office. In 2016, Vanke entered and launched the Shangsheng New Institute urban renewal project. After renovation, it was opened to the public, showcasing its understated elegance and magnificence.

6.Shanghai Lianyi Building
The construction of the Lianyi Building started in March 1984 and was completed in May 1985, taking only 14 months, which was 22 months ahead of the scheduled construction period. In 1985, this was the first building in Shanghai to exceed 100 meters in height, and it was also the starting point of Shanghai’s super high-rise buildings.

7.Tao Fen Memorial Hall
The architectural style of the Tao Fen Memorial Hall is a new type of alleyway residential building with French-style characteristics. It was built in 1923 and has a three-story brick and wood structure. In May 1959, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai.
No. 54 was the place where Mr. Tao Fen lived with his family from 1930 to 1936. In 1956, it was repaired by the Municipal People’s Committee and served as Tao Fen’s former residence for posterity to visit and commemorate. It still maintains the original appearance of the 1930s. No. 53 is the exhibition hall of the Tao Fen Memorial Hall, which was officially opened to the public on the 63rd anniversary of Mr. Tao Fen’s birth.

8.Shanghai Symphony Music Museum
The Shanghai Symphony Music Museum was once the residence of Zhou Zongliang, the “Dye King”. Now, this architectural style building built in the 1920s has created the country’s first symphony music museum through a brand-new model.
The Shanghai Symphony Music Museum covers an area of 4,773 square meters and has 5 European-style houses with a building area of 1,048 square meters. In the middle of the garden of the old Western-style house is a large lawn, surrounded by centuries-old camphor trees with lush branches and leaves. The flowers and plants in the depths of the garden are trimmed exquisitely and beautifully.
