Uncorking Shanghai: A Curated List of Must-Visit Wine Bars and Bistros

First and foremost, we want to clarify that this article is not sponsored content. We have spent countless hours compiling a list of wine bars and bistros in Shanghai that are worth checking out.

Our selection criteria are simple: these establishments have put a lot of thought and effort into their wine selection, whether they have a small-scale wine cellar or just a few shelves with around 30 varieties. The effort they put in is evident!

To help you understand our recommendations and provide a basis for comparing the wine selection and variety at these establishments, we have come up with a “Wine Cellar Rating” system. A score of 100 represents the ultimate wine cellar paradise (if you find one, please let us know!).

The other scores represent:

90 points: Has everything you need
93 points: Extensive selection
95 points: Interesting wine cellar
99 points: Dream wine cellar

RAC has several different locations, each with a slightly different concept, but you can find French crepes at every RAC. We love the Allee on Yanping Road because it has a relaxing terrace, and it’s a romantic thing to enjoy a glass of wine while welcoming the sunset. Each store has a rich selection of wines by the glass. The wines are natural, and the food is modern French cuisine.

Currently, they have three branches, each with slight differences. What’s special is that they often hold various small-scale wine tasting events, which are great opportunities to taste new wines and meet new friends.

The staff at Ambra are very enthusiastic and friendly to the dogs participating in human gatherings. Ambra is located in the heart of Jing’an. It’s worth mentioning that in addition to various familiar national wines, they also offer wines from Georgia. (Highly recommended!)
